Weekly Updates

  • Created an external stylesheet.

  • Used DIV elements & stylesheet positioning to create menu bars, headers, and textboxes.

  • Styled the pages in a recognizable consistent way: used sans-serif fonts and uniform background colors; created menu bars, headings, etc. and placed the elements in the same way.

  • Played around with the design, using the w3schools website for reference. Used flexbox to make menu bars, and created some hoverable buttons.

  • Created a log page to track changes made to my website.

  • Cropped and compressed my portrait picture using photopea.com.

  • Created a thumbnail of the croped image (width: 200px), and added it to my homepage.

  • Linked the image to the About me page.

  • Turned the original portrait picture into an image map, and linked my mouth tp the food I like, my ear to the music I like, and my eyes to the moveis I like.

  • Compressed other images so that each file is under 100KB.

  • Added alt texts to the images used in the website.

  • Created a page on "Sweet Strawberry Waffles", which includes this term multiple times: in the h1 heading and in normal text.

  • Used the term "Sweet Strawberry Waffles" in a title tag, meta description, and linktexts.

  • Added an image that includes the term "Sweet Strawberry Waffles" in alt text and file name.

  • Added a link to this page on the homepage and on the menu bars in other pages.

  • Made minor changes to stylesheet so that the background color of all the sections in each page are the same (Previously, there were sections with white and grey backgrounds, but made them all grey).

  • Created a div container that contains all the div, h1, p, etc. elements in my pages.

  • Marked the active menu item in the menu bar.

  • Created a "go to page top" button at the end of every page.

  • Created a timeline template in the stylesheet.

  • Created a word cloud that shows my research interests on the Studies page. Made sure that the word cloud changed its form to fit in screens when the browser width is around 800px or less.

  • Set the width of the textbox to 545px.

  • Used ID and class attributes (previously, all the components had class attributes).

  • Resized the h1 of the sweet strawberry waffles page because the title was longer and didn't fit nicely like the other pages.

  • Added more texts to the about me and studies page.

  • Added a new page and wrote a web usability review. Included a link to the website I reviewed, and also added a picture of the reviewed site's homepage.

  • Added a map in the Hobbies page showing the countries I have visited, lived in, and will visit in the near future.

  • Added buttons to the above-mentioned map, which, when clicked, open zoomed-in versions of the map on another tab.

  • Added new images (a screenshot of an organization website and some coverpages of articles that I have written) to the "Writing" section in the Hobbies page. Also added links to the websites and articles mentioned in the text.

  • Made minor changes to the portrait picture on the homepage to make it look more clickable. Added shade to the picture, and also made the picture increase its size upon hovering.

  • Added a menu list of university websites to the "Education" section in the Studies page.
