Benvenuti nel mondo del gelato alla Stracciatella!
Ciao ragazzi! Stracciatella is one of the most famous Italian ice cream dishes! It originated in 1962 in Bergamo in Northern Italy in a café called 'La Marianna'. It was invented by Enrico Panattoni. When making ice cream, he added melted chocolate to the dish at the end. The contact with the cold ice cream caused the chocolate to solidify, breaking and mixing with the dish! The word stracciatella means “shredded or torn.” This term refers to the delicious way the chocolate is incorporated into the vanilla ice cream. The dark chocolate is finely chopped and mixed into the creamy ice cream, ensuring that each scoop is a perfect balance between the rich, intense flavor of the chocolate and the light sweetness of the vanilla ice cream.
