Week 1

I learned the basic HTML structure and created my very first websites. I created the homepage, the about me page, the studies page, and the hobbies page. First, I added text and tried out different elements like italic fonts, headlines, paragraphs, hyperlinks, and lists. Later I added a background color and pictures.

Week 2

This week I began to structure my websites a little more. I created an external style sheet and thereby gave different elements certain attributes. I decided to go for a minimalistic style with a little color and Arial as font. Furthermore, I added div blocks to give my website a certain structure. Lastly, I created this logpage and published my websites on Siegfried.

Week 3

This week I improved some things on my external stylesheet and learned about photo editing. I cropped and resized the picture of my dog and put a small version on my homepage. The larger version is on my about me page and functions as an image map with links to be found on my dog’s mouth, eyes, and ear.

Week 4

This week we learned about Search Engine Optimization. To apply the new knowledge, I created a new website about Sweet Strawberry Waffles and made it search engine friendly by including the term in the text, headlines, title, meta description, and link text. Also, I added a picture that also included the term in the alt text and filename.

Week 5

This week I uniformied my website and improved the design. I added some more div blocks to give a better structure and I marked the active menu item in the navigation bar.

Week 6

This week I wrote a Web Usability Review for Seikos Website. I evaluated features like design, navigation and scannability. I added pictures and a link to the website to my review. Moreover, I improved some more details on my own website. I made sure that my website includes all elements needed for completeing the assignements.
