Information about my studies
Choosing the right bachelor is a big challenge. And what if you make the wrong choice? Or pick something that you are not capable of? Since I always was interested in arts, I chose to study Arts, Culture and Media after I finished high school.
About ACM
So, at the moment, I am an Arts, Culture and Media student (in short 'ACM').
There are various options of directions you can take at this bachelor. I chose the following specialities:
- Music: Popular music & Classical music
- Film: Analysis, Theory, History
- Arts Policy and Cultural Entrepreneurship
I finished most of my courses for my bachelor last year, I only still have to finish my thesis.
Therefore, I chose to follow some additional courses from different studies for fun.
This also gives me some space and time to find out what I really like and what the options after my studies are.
How to choose?
I had a hard time making a choice on what I wanted to study after high school. There are many options and I am interested in a lot of things.
I wanted to do something I would enjoy for a long period of time. Therefore I chose something that is close to my hobbies.
That made me a bit more secure that I would actually like to learn things about it. And also end up in a working field I would enjoy.
However, it is difficult to decide and to know what I exactly want to do after my studies.
There are many options, but what am I capable of and what do I really like? That is something I am figuring out right now.
What's next?
I hope to have a bachelor degree at the end of this year. But what is next? Of course there is the option to start with a master, to specialize in a specific field. However, I am not sure if I enjoy studying enough. Because I am realising more and more that I enjoy doing practical stuff. I enjoy learning, but I don't enjoy the stress and presure that is given with deadlines. So, I would like to learn more practical things, which can be something as building a website. But also stuff like organising, sound technique, photography, designing et cetera. In conclusion, there are so many interesting things. It is going to be hard to find something that perfectly fits me.
