When I first started studying Hotel Management in Leeuwarden, I thought I had found my direction. The hospitality industry seemed exciting-fast-paced, people-oriented, and full of opportunities. But as time went on, I realized something was missing. While I enjoyed certain aspects, I couldn't see myself building a career in it.
Then, in my second year, I took a minor in Neuromarketing, and everything changed. For the first time, I was truly fascinated by what I was learning how people make decisions, how communication influences behavior, and how psychology and technology shape the way we connect. That minor made me rethink my future, and before I knew it, I had set my sights on Communication and Information Sciences at RUG.
Now, studying CIS, I feel like I've found my place. It combines all the things that interest me. Language, media, technology, and human interaction. Looking back, I'm glad I took that detour through Hotel Management. Even though it wasn't the right fit, it led me to something that is.
